FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of medicine, namely cardiology and cardiac surgery, and can be used to predict the degree of risk of cardiovascular complications (CVC) at the hospital after cardiac surgery (CS) in cardiopulmonary bypass. For the implementation of the method, the concentration of melatonin sulfate in the nighttime fraction of urine is determined before the operation, and when the concentration of melatonin sulfate is less than 15.1 ng/ml, it is concluded that there is a high risk of complications within 14 days after the operation; when the concentration of melatonin sulfate, which is in the range of 15.1–22.1 ng/ml, make a conclusion about the average degree of risk of complications; when obtaining a concentration of melatonin sulfate in excess of 22.1 ng/ml, it is concluded that there is a low risk of developing complications.
EFFECT: use of the method allows to individualize pre- and postoperative prophylactic and therapeutic measures in patients with chronic heart failure.
