FIELD: instrument engineering.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to an optical instrument, namely to measuring instruments that use the Faraday effect. Device contains a light source, the first polarizer in the form of a Wollaston prism, a magneto-optical element in the form of a glass quadrangular prism of height h, with a mirror coating in the form of a strip equal to the width of the light beam D on the first base, and the second base has two polished inclined surfaces with mirror coatings, which are equal angles with the first base γ=arctg(0.5D/h). Further along the rays, a second polarizer is installed with transmission plane ±45° in relation to the transmission planes of the Wollaston prism, lenses, photodetectors and electronic unit. Wollaston prism is fixed on the first base of the quadrilateral prism so that the plane of rays dilution is parallel to the long side of the mirror plane, and angle thereof of the rays dilution is 2β≥arctg(D/4h). Second polarizer is also fixed on the plane of the first base, but on the other side of the strip of the mirror coating, followed by an additional glass prism with two faces forming the same angles θ=β+arcsin(sinβ/n) with third face thereof, where β – deflection angle by the Wollaston prism ray; n is the refractive index of the prism glass.
EFFECT: invention provides increased versatility in measurements, reduced size.
