SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of the chemistry of high-molecular compounds. Method for conducting a catalytic exothermic polymerization reaction in an isothermal mode in a gas-liquid semi-continuous mixing reactor with a jacket and automatic temperature control is described, the change in the flow rate of the coolant and coolant on the deviation of the temperature in the reactor from the set. At the start-up stage, with stirring of the reaction mass before loading the catalyst, the jacket and the reactor are superheated relative to the desired temperature of the polymerization process. Then the stirrer is stopped and the reactor is cooled with a refrigerant through the jacket until the temperature in the reactor decreases to the value specified for the temperature control mode. After that, the stirrer is switched on and the catalyst is loaded at the regime temperature in the reactor and the temperature in the jacket close to the temperature of the refrigerant. At the working stage, the transition to automatic regulation of the temperature of the reaction mass.
EFFECT: implementation of the method provides an isothermal mode throughout the process, starting from the loading of the catalyst, which leads to an increase in the quality of the target polymer.
