FIELD: electrical equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the electrical equipment. According to the method for charging a starter battery of a vehicle with an engine and a traction battery from a voltage source the starter battery is charged by the vehicle controller after the traction battery has been charged to the first value, if the starter battery charge is lower than the second value, while at least one of the conditions is met: (1) the charging time of the starter battery does not exceed the first threshold value and (2) the charging time of the traction battery does not exceed the second threshold value. At the same time, the state of charge of the starter battery is monitored using the controller and the charging of the starter battery is stopped in response to the charge state of the starter battery being over the limit value.
EFFECT: shorter charging time of the starter battery.
