SUBSTANCE: aircraft steering surface element (1), in particular interceptor, comprising upper outer shell (2) having air-flowed outer side (4), lower outer casing (3) reinforcing rib (8) and core (9) of foam plastic. Reinforcing rib (8) is located between two segments (10) of core (9), has wall (11) extending generally perpendicularly to longitudinal direction (2a) of upper outer shell (2). Core segment (10) is in contact with one longitudinal side of wall (11) of reinforcing rib (8), and other segment (10) of core is in contact with other longitudinal side of wall (11) of reinforcing rib (8). Wall (11) of reinforcing rib (8) extends from the inner side of upper outer shell (2) to the inner side of lower outer shell (3). Reinforcing rib (8) has upper flange (12) that runs parallel to the main plane of upper outer shell (2) and is located on the inner side of upper outer shell (2), and lower flange (13), which runs parallel to the main plane of lower outer shell (3) and is located on the inner side of lower outer shell (3). Upper (12) and lower (13) flanges are at an angle to wall (11) of reinforcing rib (8). Method of manufacturing element (1) of the steering surface is also proposed.
