FIELD: water treatment.
SUBSTANCE: invention can be used in the field of biological treatment of industrial and domestic wastewater to create materials that have immobilization capacity when used as a carrier of active biomass. Method includes production of material from polymeric substances containing organic additives, by mixing, followed by extruding the mixture. Polypropylene (PP) is used as a synthetic polymer, polysaccharide (PS) selected from the line: starch, microcellulose, or their mixture in any ratio as an organic additive. Ratio of components of PP:PS is (80–60):(20–40) wt.%. Material is produced by extrusion using a twin-screw three-zone extruder with a granulating head. Polypropylene granules are fed to the zone with a temperature of 210 °C. In the zone with a temperature of 220 °C, the process of melting and kneading of polypropylene is carried out. Polysaccharide is served in the third zone with a temperature of 220 °C, equipped with mixing elements. At the exit of the extruder, the finished product is obtained in the form of granules with a diameter of 10–20 mm, density of 0.3–0.7 g/cm3 and porosity of 50–70 %.
EFFECT: usage of the method provides an increase in the ability of the material to fix and retain the biomass of microorganisms, simplifying and cheapening the technology for producing a porous material of the biomass carrier by carrying out the process in one stage.
