FIELD: technological processes.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of treating substrates, a composite structure obtained by this method, use of a composition containing a latent alkyl borane as a primer for treating substrates or adhesive bonding of substrates, where said substrates are made of a material based on ethylene-propylene-diene copolymer (EPDM), butadiene-acrylonitrile rubber (NBR), styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR), or a mixture thereof, or for repairing or splicing conveyor belts made of EPDM. Method comprises a) applying a composition containing at least one latent alkyl borane and substantially free of agents that cause the disintegration of complexes of said latent alkyl borane, on substrate (1) containing material with unsaturated units, where said material is a material based on EPDM, NBR, SBR or mixtures thereof, b) applying a radically curable substance to said substrate (1), pre-treated with said latent alkyl borane, and c) curing said radical curable substance to obtain a composite structure.

EFFECT: providing a cheap method of bonding materials, which increases open holding time of the adhesive, reduces setting time and improves stability.
