FIELD: measuring equipment.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to remote monitoring of forests using signals of navigation spacecraft (NSC) in the L1 range and can be used for year-round recording of attenuation coefficients for NSC signals in the forest using continuous space-time radio sounding of the forest. Space-time coordinates of the NSC and the dimensionless amplitude of signals in open space and signals weakened by the forest are recorded, while the signals are measured by a single receiving antenna with a vertically oriented axis of the radiation pattern located on the mast of varying height at the forest boundary with the possibility of sequential recording of the NSC signals in open space and in the forest and the subsequent calculation of the coefficients of the attenuation of the NSC signals γ in the forest according to the formula
where P – dimensionless amplitude of the signal passing through the forest; P0 – dimensionless amplitude of the signal in open space, L – length of the signal path in the forest calculated by the formula
where H – average height of the trees; h – height of the antenna above the ground; d – distance from the antenna to the edge of the forest; α and ϕ – azimuth and elevations angles of the NSC.
EFFECT: simplification of the procedure for measuring signals of navigation spacecraft.
