FIELD: machine building.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to railway transport and can be used to heat frozen cargo in freight train wagons before unloading. Method of heating the frozen cargo in freight train wagons is that they start heating the frozen cargo before the freight train arrives at the unloading station when the train moves at a speed of at least 10 km/h, and as a source of electricity for the power supply of infrared emitters use a contact network and an electric locomotive, the next in recovery mode. Device for heating the frozen cargo in cars (2) contains infrared emitters (5) installed on the side and end sides of the freight car using U-shaped structure (14). Electrical circuit supplying electricity from the contact network includes high-voltage lines. Source of electricity for powering infrared emitters are electric locomotives of direct or alternating current and contact network. Radiating surfaces of infrared emitters (5) are directed at angle of 20–30° to the surface of the bottom of the car. As a source of electricity for the power supply of infrared emitters used contact network voltage of 3 kV. Heat flow capacity control system includes a control panel.

EFFECT: invention reduces the time for unloading frozen cargo, reduces energy consumption, simplifies the design and reduces the cost of unloading freight cars.
