SUBSTANCE: invention relates to equipment or furnaces used for heat treatment, in particular for thermochemical treatment or compaction of porous substrates by chemical infiltration in the gas phase. Such equipment for heat treatment of substrates comprises a reaction chamber, at least one gas inlet and a gas preheating chamber located between the gas inlet and the reaction chamber, wherein the specified preheating chamber includes perforated distribution plates fixed with gaps one above the other. Further, the preheating chamber comprises, between at least two distribution plates facing one another, walls defining gas flow paths between said plates. Each wall is vertically positioned between at least two distribution plates facing each other.

EFFECT: equipment design is provided to preheat the gas stream to a certain temperature, while minimizing temperature differences between the center and periphery of the equipment at the outlet of the preheating chamber without increasing its volume and without reducing the capacity of the equipment.
