FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention describes an electrodeposited coating composition, a method of producing it, as well as a method for electrodeposition of coatings, a bath for cationic electrodeposition, a coated article and a method of making a coated article. Electrodeposited composition contains a catalytically effective amount of an inorganic bismuth-containing compound. Inorganic bismuth-containing compound is selected from a group comprising magnesium bismuth aluminosilicate, bismuth aluminate, bismuth borate, bismuth manganate, bismuth phosphate, hydrates thereof and combinations thereof. Coating composition is obtained by combining a resin component for electrodeposition containing at least one crosslinkable functional group with a blocked isocyanate component, an aliphatic carboxylic acid based component and at least an inorganic bismuth containing compound. For electrodeposition, an emulsion is provided which contains a cationize resin component for electrodeposition and a blocked polyisocyanate cross-linking component and provides a pigment paste containing dispersed resin, a pigment and an inorganic bismuth containing compound. Further, the electrodeposition resin and the pigment paste are mixed with water to form bath for electrodeposition. Voltage is applied with application of cathodic electrodeposition coating on substrate. Coated article is obtained in this way.
EFFECT: invention provides high degree of cross-linking and creates a hardened coating with optimum cross-linking and corrosion resistance.
