SUBSTANCE: invention relates to measuring device and measurement method for multi-segment rod-like products of tobacco industry. Method of measuring geometrical parameters of multi-segment rod-shaped article (1, 1', 1'') of tobacco industry by means of electromagnetic radiation beam (6A) directed to article (1, 1', 1''), wherein radiation (7A) emitted by multi-segment article (1, 1', 1'') of tobacco industry under action of excitation induced by radiation (6A), having wavelength different from wavelength of received radiation (7A), and directed to multi-segment article (1, 1', 1'') of the tobacco industry is received by the radiation receiving device (7) and generating signal (32) corresponding to received radiation (7A), in radiation receiving device (7) or by means of processing means (33) in control system (30) of such device, signal (32) corresponding to radiation (7A) received by radiation reception device (7) is processed, and image (P, P', P'') based on it, corresponding to multi-segment article (1, 1', 1''), using processing means (33) determining the article geometrical elements (1, 1', 1'') based on radiation intensity difference (7A) emitted by multi-segment article (1, 1', 1'') of tobacco industry, which is rendered in created image (P, P', P''), then by means of processing means (33) measuring geometric parameters of multi-segment article (1, 1', 1'') based on position of article geometrical elements (1, 1', 1'') in the image (P, P', P'').
EFFECT: technical result of invention is to increase measurement accuracy by eliminating possible interference when receiving reflected radiation.
