Object of the invention is an apparatus for processing rod-shaped articles of the tobacco industry, wherein the possibility is provided of transporting rod-shaped articles in the grooves of a conveyor along the movement path transversely to the axis of the rod-shaped product, wherein the apparatus is equipped with a pair (6) of adjacent circular knives (6A, 6B), wherein the axes (Z, Z') of rotation of the circular knives are located on two sides of the movement path (P), characterised by the fact that the movement path (P) passes the area (6C) of overlap of the adjacent circular knives (6A, 6B), wherein in the pair (6) of adjacent circular knives (6A, 6B) one disk knife (6A) is located over the carrier surface of the conveyor, while the other disk knife (6B) is located under the carrier surface of the conveyor. Object of the invention is also a method for processing rod-shaped articles (1) of the tobacco industry.
