SUBSTANCE: vehicle includes an intrusion detection sensor configured to sense the Doppler frequency shift in the passenger compartment and provide an intrusion detection signal indicative of this Doppler shift. Also the vehicle includes a processing device configured to receive an intrusion detection signal and activate an alarm if the Doppler frequency shift exceeds a predetermined threshold value. Further, a method for detecting an intrusion into the passenger compartment involves measuring the magnitude of the Doppler frequency shift in the passenger compartment, comparing the magnitude of the Doppler frequency shift with a predetermined threshold value and activating an alarm if the magnitude of the Doppler shift exceeds a predetermined threshold value.
EFFECT: reduced load on the vehicle battery.
