FIELD: construction.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to devices for the construction and repair of railway tracks, in particular to a tamping machine for compacting the ballast bed of a track. Tamping machine contains a tamping unit and a lifting and leveling device. Tamping units are mounted on transverse telescopic guides. Guides of different tamping units are installed in different horizontal planes. Each tamping unit is equipped with its own drive unit and can move independently of the other unit. Guides can be attached to the frame of the tamping machine through a swivel bearing.
EFFECT: acceleration of railroad track tamping is achieved.
