FIELD: manufacturing technology.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of manufacturing a flat blank for a cutting tool, in particular a blank as a starting element for the manufacture of a saw blade, a saw band, a cutting line, a punching knife or a blade. In said method, at least one first cutting material in the form of particles is applied to a flat metal carrier, at least a first particulate cutting material welded to a flat metal carrier and the flat metal carrier is separated along the resulting welded joint. In this way, a flat blank is obtained for making a cutting tool, which includes a flat metal carrier having a main part of a carrier material and a cutting section of at least one first particulate cutting material. Flat metal carrier and the cutting section are connected to each other by a first welding zone, wherein the cutting section and the flat metal carrier overlap on the length of the cross-section, which is in the range from 0.2 to 3 values of the width of the cross-section of the flat metal carrier.
EFFECT: enabling to manufacture a cutting tool blank in a simpler and cheaper way using a variety of materials for a flat carrier and cutting material.
