FIELD: metallurgy.
SUBSTANCE: ingot is made from high-speed steel containing the following, wt %: carbon of 0.5 to 1.5, chrome of 1.0 to 10.0, tungsten equivalent specified with ratio 2Mo+W, of 3.0 to 10.0, niobium of 0.5 to 2.0, vanadium of 0.3 to 2.0. At that, niobium can be replaced with vanadium or vanadium is partially replaced with niobium at the ratio of Nb:V=2:1 and at maintaining minimum content of niobium of 0.5, silica of 0.3 to 3.5; at that, silica can be partially replaced with aluminium at the ratio of Si:Al=1:1, aluminium of impurity to 2.0, cobalt of less than 8.0, manganese of impurity to 1.5, nickel of impurity to 1.5, copper of impurity to 1.5, phosphorus maximum 0.10, sulphur maximum 0.10, nitrogen maximum 0.10, rare-earth elements or actinoids or Hf or Rf or La or Ac maximum 0.5, and the rest is mainly Fe and inevitable impurities. Further hot forging or rolling is performed so that the appropriate end dimensions of the product are obtained.
EFFECT: steels have the required level of operating characteristics at lower cost.
