FIELD: radio engineering and communications.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to radio communications. Area is divided into multiple zones, and one or more signal propagation models for one or more wireless access points (AP) are generated for each zone. Set of zonal signal propagation models provides improved model availability based on each zone. Process includes receiving a location request associated with a wireless communication device, selecting a target zone from the multiple available zones of the area and estimating the location of the wireless communication device based on the signal propagation model associated with the target zone or based on the location determination signature. Signal propagation model associated with the target zone is generated based on the training samples observed exclusively in the target zone.
EFFECT: higher accuracy when performing location determination using a zonal structure.
