FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing ammonia, comprising: feeding gaseous nitrogen into an electrolytic cell, where it comes into contact with the surface of the cathode electrode, wherein said surface comprises a catalyst surface comprising a nitride catalyst containing one or more nitrides selected from the group consisting of vanadium nitride, zirconium nitride, chromium nitride, niobium nitride and ruthenium nitride, and the electrolytic cell contains a proton donor, and transmission of electric current through electrolytic cell, due to which nitrogen reacts with protons with formation of ammonia. Invention also relates to an ammonia production system and a method of removing NOx and/or SOx gas from the gas stream.
EFFECT: use of the present invention enables to obtain ammonia at room temperature of ambient and atmospheric pressure.
