FIELD: chemical industry.
SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a combined method of producing methyl acetate and methanol, which involves carbonylation of dimethyl ether with synthesis gas, recovering a stream of methyl acetate and a stream of unreacted synthesis gas, containing methyl acetate, scrubbing purification of synthesis gas to remove methyl acetate and feeding synthesis gas after scrubbing to a methanol synthesis zone. Combined method of producing methyl acetate and methanol involves the following steps: (I) feeding synthesis gas and dimethyl ether into the carbonylation reaction zone and reacting therein synthesis gas and dimethyl ether in the presence of a carbonylation catalyst to form a gaseous carbonylation reaction product which includes methyl acetate and hydrogen-enriched synthesis gas, (II) withdrawing the carbonylation reaction product from the carbonylation reaction zone and extracting therefrom a methyl acetate-enriched liquid stream and a synthesis gas stream with residual methyl acetate content, (III) scrubbing treatment in the scrubber cleaning zone of at least a portion of synthesis gas recovered from the carbonylation reaction product using a liquid solvent for scrubbing to reduce methyl acetate content in the synthesis gas, to obtain synthesis gas purified during scrubbing with low content of methyl acetate, and stream of liquid solvent containing methyl acetate, (IV) feeding synthesis gas after scrubbing to a methanol synthesis zone and contacting said gas with a methanol synthesis catalyst to form a methanol synthesis product containing methanol and unreacted synthesis gas.
EFFECT: described is a combined method of producing methyl acetate and methanol.
