FIELD: optics.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to optical fiber. Optical fiber contains glass fiber containing a core and a shell. A primary resin layer contacts with glass fiber and covers glass fiber. A secondary resin layer covers the primary resin layer. The secondary resin layer contains a cured product of a resin composition. The resin composition contains main resin and hydrophobized spherical inorganic oxide. Main resin includes oligourethane(meth)acrylate, monomer, and a photopolymerization initiator. Inorganic oxide is dispersed in the resin composition, and a content of inorganic oxide is from 1 to 60 wt.% of the total amount of the resin composition. Young modulus of the secondary resin layer is from 1300 to 2600 MPa at 23°C.
EFFECT: creation of optical fiber having good characteristics of lateral pressure.
