FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing one or more xylenes, involving: feeding a first stream containing xylenes and C9 aromatic compounds at a first ratio of methyl and phenyl groups to one side of fractionating column with a split housing, having a vertical partition separating one side from the other side; feeding a second stream containing xylenes and C9 aromatic compounds in a second ratio of methyl and phenyl groups, which is lower than the first ratio, on the other side of fractionating column with a separated housing; wherein at least a portion of the second stream comprises at least a portion of the reformate stream; separation of common head product stream from split casing fractionating column containing xylenes; separating the first bottoms product stream from one side of the fractionating column with the split body and separating the second bottoms stream from the other side of the split column with the separated body; feeding the first stream of the still product as the feed stream to the transalkylation zone; extraction of at least part of second flow of still product as component of gasoline.

EFFECT: use of the present invention increases xylene production while limiting the amount of by-products in form of benzene and fuel gas.
