FIELD: chemistry.

SUBSTANCE: invention describes a coating composition, use thereof, a method of treating a plastic substrate and a plastic substrate. Coating composition contains a resin-based binder obtained from a reaction mixture comprising (a) a first component, (b) a second component and (c) a third component. First component contains a polyol, the second component contains isocyanate. Third component includes a block copolymer having (i) a first unit including links having functional groups which react with at least one of the first and second components, and (ii) a second unit comprising links having functional groups, which enhance adhesion to the polymer substrate, provided that the first component, the second component and the block copolymer differ from each other. Treatment of the plastic substrate involves cleaning at least a portion of the plastic substrate and depositing the coating composition directly on the cleaned portion of the substrate without intermediate steps.

EFFECT: coating composition is used to improve adhesion of coating layers applied on a plastic substrate; invention ensures production of a high-quality coating with good adhesion to plastic substrates.
