FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to a coating compositions. The water-based coating composition contains: (a) resin particles of an acrylic copolymer containing lateral carbonyl functional groups, (b) a cross-linking agent containing at least two functional groups which are reactive with respect to the carbonyl functional group of the acrylic copolymer, (c) a surfactant, wherein resin particles of the acrylic copolymer have a calculated glass transition temperature (Tg) of at least 40°C and include a reaction product of reactants which include: (i) at least 50 wt %, of the weight of reactants, of hydrophobic acrylic monomers, which include: (A) at least 60 wt %, of the weight of hydrophobic acrylic monomers, of a styrene monomer, and (B) alkyl(meth)acrylate of an alcohol, wherein the alkyl part of the alcohol is linear or branched and contains at least 4 carbon atoms, and (ii) an acrylic monomer containing an aldehyde and/or ketone functional group, and (iii) a monomer with a phosphate functional group.
EFFECT: obtaining coating compositions which can be single-component, water-based, ambient curable, the coatings are resistant to water and alcohol.
