FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention discloses methods and systems for fault detection of an active belt tensioning mechanism of a built-in starter-generator with a belt transmission (BSGBT) connected to a vehicle engine. Due to use of the obtained as a result of observations change in the load of the drive of the front position auxiliary device (DFPAD) for comparison of the actual state of the tensioning mechanism (which may be in the drawn or extended state) with the given command state, the presence of excess belt tension from the presence of insufficient belt tension can be distinguished.
EFFECT: well-timed diagnostics of the belt tensioning mechanism allows to improve the belt condition and to provide the fuel saving advantages due to the BSGBT system for a longer period of time.
