SUBSTANCE: proposed device comprises belt slip control means, limit setting means and transmission operation speed limiting means. Said belt slip control means control belt slip when said transmission operation speed limiting means limits said speed to preset value. Proposed method consists in setting hydraulic pressure variation when transmission operation speed is smaller than predefined value, extracting variation component from basic component of actual transmission ratio, limiting transmission speed to preset value and permitting belt slip before vehicle acceleration.
