SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a device and a corresponding method of checking valuable documents (3), primarily banknotes, having at least one first sensor (21, 22), which is configured to record a value reflected from valuable document (3) and/or transmitted through it electromagnetic radiation and convert it into corresponding first sensor signals, at least one second sensor (24), which is configured to record reflected from valuable document (3) and / or transmitted through it sound waves, first of all ultrasonic waves, and convert them into corresponding second sensor signals, and analyzing device (51), which is configured to set first surface feature characterizing first surface of valuable document (3) based on first sensor signals, based on second sensor signals to set characterizing second surface of valuable document (3) second surface indicator, and on the basis of the first and second surface indicators, making a conclusion on possible marking of valuable document (3) with marking dye. In addition, the invention relates to system (1) for processing valuable documents with such a device.
EFFECT: disclosed is a device and a method of checking valuable documents, primarily banknotes, as well as a valuable document processing system.
