FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to welding production and can be used in production of two-layer composite sheets representing a base sheet of low-carbon steel with a wear-resistant layer containing carbides of chrome deposited on it by an electric arc method. Proposed method comprises application of electric arc surfacing head and effect on built-up zone of sheet by magnetic field generated by magnetic system arranged to move with overlaying head. At that, magnetic system is located behind overlaying head in relation to direction of head movement at a distance, allowing to influence magnetic field on built-up area of sheet at crystallisation temperature of carbides, and magnetic field power lines are directed perpendicular to the surface of the facing layer.
EFFECT: use of invention increases hardness and wear resistance of composite sheets, which increases service life of articles from them.
