FIELD: manufacturing technology.
SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a treatment solution for producing an insulating coating, which can be used to obtain an insulating coating having excellent insulating and adhesive properties. Treatment solution for producing an insulating coating contains a phosphate of at least one element selected from a group consisting of Mg, Ca, Ba, Sr, Zn, Al and Mn; and two or more types of colloidal silicon dioxide, characterized by different average diameters of particles, wherein total content of two and more types of colloidal silicon dioxide in terms of content of solid substance SiO2 is in range from 50 to 120 weight parts in relation to 100 parts by weight of phosphate in terms of content of solid substance. When designating each of average diameters of particles of two or more types of colloidal silicon dioxide by symbol r1, ..., rn in order of increasing size, ratio between average diameters of particles, characterized by the expression ri+1/ri, is not less than 1.9, and when each of the two or more types of colloidal silicon dioxide is specified with respect to content of solid substance SiO2 symbol w1, ..., wn in order of increasing average diameter of particles, mass ratio, characterized by expression wi+1/(wi+1+wi) ranges from 0.30 to 0.90, where n is an integer equal to at least 2, i is an integer in range from 1 to n. Each of average diameter of particles of two or more types of colloidal silicon dioxide ranges from 1.0 to 150 nm.
EFFECT: disclosed is a treatment solution for producing an insulating coating and a method of making a metal having an insulating coating.
