SUBSTANCE: invention relates to control panels in a user interface. Such a result is achieved due to the fact that the system includes a panel manager, which works together with applications to provide access to panels, while preserving the visible minimum volume of user content. System allows the application to set the size of the protected canvas. When a panel is required, the system determines whether there is sufficient space for the panel or whether it can be created by closing another panel. If so, the panel is added. If not, the panel may be temporarily displayed. System also responds to changes in the size of the user interface. If the size of the user interface is reduced so that there is not enough space for the existing panels, one or more of the existing panels are closed.

EFFECT: technical result consists in providing automatic control of panels with respect to application canvas in user interface.
