FIELD: agriculture; machine building.
SUBSTANCE: method of checking potatoes transported along the x axis on a chain conveyor containing a plurality of rollers mounted so that to enable free rotation of each around the transverse axis of rotation, orthogonal to the x axis, the rollers are arranged such that two adjacent rollers constitute a potato tuber bed. Verification means are divided into three consecutive points arranged along the length of the chain conveyor from rollers rotating at constant angular speed so that at the level of each of the check points different surfaces of each tuber can be observed. Cameras of visible radiation, infrared radiation of the near range and infrared radiation of the far range are arranged vertically to the chain conveyor and are oriented so that their optical axes are vertical and secant relative to the longitudinal axis of the conveyor. At the first verification point, rotary tubers are photographed from various angles of the visible radiation chamber at rate of 60 images per second. Obtained photos are used to determine the average diameter of each tuber, from which the time between shots (speed of shooting) is calculated for the cameras placed at the second and third inspection points so that the whole surface of each tuber is covered.
EFFECT: method for inspecting vegetables and fruits during automatic sorting is proposed.
