FIELD: physics.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to design and use of solid particle sensors in exhaust gases. Purpose of the invention is identification and filtration of spent particles solid particles before release of exhaust gases into atmosphere. Disclosed are methods and systems for detecting solid particles by a solid particle sensor located downstream of a diesel particulate filter in an exhaust system. According to one of the examples, the method can include accumulation of incoming solid particles by applying a greater electrical displacement to the first collector of the solid particle sensor with subsequent charging of solid particles and formation of high-charged dendrites. Method further includes trapping said dendrites from the first catcher by applying a smaller amount of electrical bias to the second catcher, also located inside the same sensor of solid particles, which reduces the effect of exhaust gas flow to the solid particles sensor and to higher sensitivity of the solid particles sensor.
EFFECT: technical result consists in improvement of accuracy of output signal of solid particles sensor, and consequently, higher accuracy of evaluation of loading of particulate filter with solid particles.
