FIELD: measuring equipment.
SUBSTANCE: disclosed are methods and systems for measuring the amount of solid particles by means of a solid particle (SP) sensor located in the exhaust system behind a diesel particulate filter downstream. In one example, the SP sensor may comprise a pair of protruding comb electrodes on the sensor surface and may additionally comprise a plurality of guides also protruding from the sensor surface. Due to arrangement of flow guides between comb electrodes in staggered order, soot can accumulate along several branches, and thus soot can be uniformly accumulated along sensor surface.
EFFECT: disclosed are a solid particle sensor and a method of measuring the amount of solid particles in exhaust gases.
