SUBSTANCE: invention relates to method and system for monitoring switch operation in electric heating system. Method for controlling an electric heater in an electrically heated smoking system includes steps of providing power to the heater with pulses, such that during active periods power is supplied to the heater, and during inactive periods, power is not supplied to the heater; charging the capacitor in the RC circuit during inactive periods and providing the capacitor with the possibility of discharging during active periods; and monitoring discharge voltage of capacitor and, if discharge voltage of capacitor falls below threshold level of voltage, stops further supply of power to heater.

EFFECT: technical result of the invention is prevention of formation of excessive temperature of heater in case of failure of current supply switch, which is used to switch on and switch off current supply.
