SUBSTANCE: method for controlling an electric heating element comprises maintaining the heating element temperature at a target temperature by means of supplying electric current pulse to the heating element; monitoring the duty ratio of the electric current pulse and determining whether the duty ratio differs from the offered duty ratio or the duty ratio range, and if so, the target temperature is lowered, or the current supply to the heating element is stopped, or the duty ratio of the electric current pulses supplied to the heating element is limited. Since the temperature is maintained at a certain level of the target temperature, any change in the duty ratio or in the duty ratio range intended for maintaining the target temperature indicates abnormal conditions.

EFFECT: reducing the risk of the heater combustion with the simultaneous heating to a temperature sufficient to provide the necessary condition of the aerosol.
