FIELD: physics.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to nuclear power engineering and can be used to obtain pellets of uranium dioxide fuel cores of high-temperature ventilated fuel elements primarily thermionic reactors-converters of built-in version. Method of producing pelleted porous uranium dioxide involves preparing a charge from uranium dioxide starting powder with addition of binder and volatile pore-forming substance in form of a mixture of granules with a fractional size in range of 70 to 200 mcm in amount of 10–20 % of weight of uranium dioxide powder, pressing and pellets sintering in high-temperature vacuum furnace at 1900 ± 20 °C, at residual medium pressure 5 * 10-5 mm Hg for four hours.

EFFECT: invention allows forming in fuel cores of high-temperature ventilated fuel elements an analogue of limiting open radial porosity.
