SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the nuclear industry, in particular to a technology for the manufacture of ceramic nuclear fuel for fuel elements of nuclear power plants. A method for making tablets of uranium-gadolinium nuclear fuel includes preparing an initial powder of uranium dioxide, mixing it with a powder of uranium oxide and gadolinium oxide, granulating a mixture of powders, mixing a granulate with a solid lubricant for pressing, pressing and sintering to obtain tablets, grinding the obtained tablets. To the mixture of powders, 1.2 wt.% of a blowing agent in the form of azodicarbonamide is added in stages. Moreover, part of the blowing agent is added at the granulation stage, and the rest of the blowing agent is added at the stage of mixing the granulate with a solid lubricant for pressing, which is aluminum stearate.

EFFECT: invention allows obtaining optimal values of density and porosity of fuel pellets, providing stabilization of the "sintering" of fuel pellets.
