FIELD: measuring equipment.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to precision measurements of heat capacity. Investigated sample with a pre-installed thermometer is placed in an adiabatic container with a heater of a known heat capacity, a measuring pulse of electric current is passed through the heater, due to extraction of heat, which provides a given temperature rise of the sample. Further, the analyzed sample is replaced with a reference sample with the same geometrical dimensions, which is certainly not less than the heat capacity and equipped with an additional heater. Reference sample and container with known weights are made from the same dielectric. Then, measuring pulse is repeated and additional pulse is passed synchronously through additional heater, reaching preset temperature rise. After the experiment is over, the desired heat capacity is determined by subtracting the ratio of the amount of heat released by the additional pulse, to a given temperature drop from the product of the weight of the reference sample to the total weight of the reference sample and the container by the difference of the quotient of dividing the total amount of heat released by the repeated and additional pulse by a given increase in temperature and heat capacity of the heater.

EFFECT: enabling determination of heat capacity of the analyzed material in the extended range without additional experiment with a hollow container, which increases the range and accuracy of determining the heat capacity of the analyzed material.
