FIELD: electrical engineering.

SUBSTANCE: invention relates to converter equipment and is intended to increase reliability of frequency converter. Invention consists in use of two-channel conversion, based on commutation of input variable multiphase voltage of industrial frequency by reversible semiconductor commutators of two channels, strains formed in channels are symmetrical relative to point of passage through zero.

EFFECT: at the output, the channels are summed to form a continuous sequence of alternating half-waves of different polarity, having a three-fold higher frequency.
