SUBSTANCE: invention relates to the field of information technologies, in particular to devices and their elements for reading information from magnetic data carriers, computer equipment. Device for reading information from a magnetic information carrier, comprising a magnetooptical element, having a garnet substrate and a conversion film with composition BixPbyPtzFe5-uMeuO12, where Me is Al or Ga metal; x = 0.6–1.5; y = 0.007–0.028; z = 0.01–0.038; u = 0.8–1.3.
EFFECT: technical result consists in improvement of characteristics of magnetooptical element due to stabilization of axis of growth anisotropy, which ensures uniformity of optical and magnetooptical properties of element on its area.
