SUBSTANCE: invention relates to analytical chemistry and can be used in oil and gas industry for quantitative determination of propanol, isopropanol and tert-butanol in formation waters. Method for quantitative determination of isopropanol, propanol and tert-butanol in formation water involves purification from mechanical impurities of analysed sample from oil by filtration through paper filter "white tape" and clarification of sample by filtration through membrane filter, then purified sample of formation water is passed through hydrophobisated silica gel with grafted octadecyl groups, salting-out is added to eluate and vapor phase is analysed by gas chromatography according to a pre-built calibration curve.

EFFECT: simple, highly sensitive and selective method of quantitative determination of isopropanol, propanol and tert-butanol in formation waters.
