DIAPHRAGM FABRIC FOR ELECTRO-EXTRACTION OF NICKEL AND METHOD OF ITS MANUFACTURING Russian patent published in 2019 - IPC D03D13/00

Abstract RU 2692275 C1

FIELD: manufacturing technology.

SUBSTANCE: disclosed is a diaphragm fabric for electro-extraction of nickel and a method for production thereof. Fabric is made of linen weave of polyester complex threads of warp and weft. Ratio of linear densities of warp threads and weft in tissue is equal to 2. Severe non-thermally treated fabric has surface filling 102±1 %, volumetric filling with fibrous material 57±2 %, and finished heat-treated fabric has surface filling 105±1 %, inter-thread porosity 30±1 %. Method of manufacturing diaphragm fabric for electro-extraction of nickel consists in preparation of polyester textile raw material, fabrication of fabric on it from a weaving loom and further process of contact heat treatment on a roll calender. Before entering the roll calender, the stern fabric is preheated in a thermal chamber with contactless infrared heaters aggregated directly with a three-roll calender. Heating and heat treatment of fabric are performed at temperature equal to 68±2 % of filament fiber softening temperature, with zero gap and no friction between calender shafts, with calender shaft linear speed equal to 14±2.5 m/min. Porosity of initial severe tissue from 42±2 % reduced to 30±2 %, and its thickness decreases from 0.76±0.01 mm to 0.66±0.01 mm, water permeability of the fabric is reduced from 380–400 l/m2⋅hour up to 100–280 l/m2⋅h.

EFFECT: disclosed fabric can be used in metallurgy of heavy non-ferrous metals for making elements of anode cells when extracting nickel and cobalt from solutions of chlorine leaching by electro extraction.
