FIELD: machine building.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to machine building, particularly, to methods of investigation of functional and morphological state of single and multi-bearing sliding bearings in internal combustion engines and pipeline systems by measuring radial clearances between surfaces of friction-sliding. Method of determining functional gap between surfaces of friction-sliding consists in the fact that thickness of lubricating layer is measured in radial clearances of friction pairs, wherein radioactive isotopes or radionuclides are introduced into the lubricating oil in an amount sufficient for their detection. Gaps are filled between surfaces of friction-sliding with produced lubricating oil. Radioactivity sensors are used to record the passage of radioactive particles in at least three sections of each investigated plane of the gap and the thickness of the lubricating layer is determined, with the gap completely filled corresponding to the value of the radial gap of the friction pair.
EFFECT: high accuracy of determining radial clearances in friction pairs.
