FIELD: manufacturing technology.

SUBSTANCE: invention represents fibrous material including mixes of fibers having multiple types of solid fibers having the same cross-section shape, wherein percentage of each of at least two of plurality of fiber types with respect to total mixture of fibers is not less than 5.0 %, and when from the given plurality of fiber types having a percentage ratio of not less than 5.0 %, the fibers having the largest and smallest surface area increasing coefficients given by formula (1) are respectively denoted fiber(max) and fiber(min), coefficient of increase in surface area of fiber(min) reduced by 3.0 % or more compared to coefficient of increase in surface area of fiber(max), and percentage ratios of fiber(max) and fiber(min) in relation to total set of fiber mixtures are not less than 30.0 % and not less than 8.0 %, respectively and fiber(max) has (a) a surface area increase coefficient of at least 1.20, and is (b) a porous fiber with a micropore specific surface area of at least 5 m2/g. Coefficient of increasing surface area = (perimeter of fiber cross-section)/(perimeter of circle having same cross-section area as fiber cross-section) (1).

EFFECT: according to the present invention, a fibrous material formed from fibers can be proposed, which enable efficient absorption of substances to be removed in the fluid to be treated, and a purification column containing said fibers.
