SUBSTANCE: present invention relates to hair removal. Hair removal apparatus comprises a hair removal device with a movable hair removal component comprising, at least a first hair-in-contact element and a second hair-in-contact element, which are movable relative to each other and which are configured to interact with each other for hair removal by applying a contact force on each other; a pressing member configured to generate said contact force by applying a pressing force to the movable hair removal component during operation; and determining skin proximity component, configured to determine during operation of relative distance between movable component for hair removal and skin area with hair to be removed; wherein the hair removal apparatus comprises a force-regulating component, which is configured to control the operation of the pressing force applied by the pressing component, depending on the relative distance determined by the skin proximity component; wherein the movable hair removal component has a functional mode in which the contact force has a first value, and a non-functional mode in which the contact force has a second value smaller than the first value; and the force-adjusting component is configured to such a control of the pressing force exerted by the pressing component that when the relative distance, determined by the skin-defining component, is the first relative distance, movable hair removal component functions in a non-functional mode, and when the relative distance determined by the skin-defining component is the second relative distance smaller than the first relative distance, the movable hair removal component functions in a functional mode.

EFFECT: technical result is providing a hair removal apparatus with improved user acceptance.
