SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a method of producing a coating, comprising a cured coating of primer-sealer and a finishing coating, on a substrate, as well as to a substrate coated by the method of invention, and can be used to produce coatings on cars and trucks, such as trucks, vans or buses. First, a coating material containing at least one coloured pigment and at least one binder as the main binder is applied on the non-treated substrate or partially coated with the cured coating. Primer-sealer coating is obtained. After achieving certain degree of drying of the primer-sealer coating, a coating material containing at least one coloured pigment and at least one binding substance as the main binder is applied on the primer-sealer coating. Finishing coat is obtained. Main binder of primer-sealer coatings and finishing coating is selected from a group comprising cross-linking isocyanate, polyester and polyacrylic resins containing polyhydroxyl groups. Coating materials used to form the primer-sealer coating and the finishing coat are compatible. Substrate preferably includes vehicle body or compartment or its components.

EFFECT: invention enables to obtain a multilayer coating with the desired profile of properties, characterized by low complexity and reduced error capabilities.
