FIELD: chemistry.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to chemical industry. In a cold aqueous solution of titanium tetrachloride with concentration of 25–30 wt% 30–100 l of titanium nuclei are introduced. Hydrolysis of the obtained solution is carried out while stirring and at temperature of 90–95 °C for 12–24 hours. Then the precipitate is separated from the solution and washed. Drying the washed residue is carried out at temperature of 250 °C for 8 hours, and tempering at temperature of 850–900 °C. Rutile titanium dioxide is obtained with high degree of purity – up to 99.99 % with stable particle size and morphology thereof.
EFFECT: invention allows controlling the specific surface of the product in a wide range.
