FIELD: technological processes.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to a head for a plasma-arc burner with air cooling, a molded swirler for said burner, a unit of a plasma arc burner, a cap for contact start-up of a plasma arc burner and a method of assembling a head for a plasma-arc torch. Head comprises a swirler having a molded thermoplastic elongated body with a far end, a near end and a hollow section configured to receive the electrode. Swirler has multiple holes for passage of gas flow set by the distal end of the elongated body and made capable to impart a swirling motion to the flow of plasma gas for the plasma arc burner. Swirler additionally includes an element for retaining the nozzle on the surface of the elongated body at the far end to retain the nozzle on the elongated body. Head additionally includes a cap attached to the proximal end of the elongated swirler body to close the proximal end of the elongated body. In the process of head assembly, a thermoplastic material is formed to form a swirler, an electrode is placed inside the hollow body of the swirler, an electrode is placed inside the head and the electrode is aligned in the longitudinal direction relative to the nozzle.
EFFECT: due to stationary fixation of the end cap on the near end of the swirler longitudinal alignment is provided during operation of the head in direct arc mode, when the gas flow is used for displacement of the electrode in contact with the cap.
