FIELD: welding.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to plasma burners and their operation. Protective cap (7) of the plasma torch nozzle is located and fixed outside on the end part of burner (1), on which the plasma jet exits burner (1) through nozzle holes (4a, 7a). Protective cap (7) of nozzle is made of iron alloy with sulfur content of at least 0.05 %. It is possible to use the cap in arc plasma burner (1) containing housing (2), electrode (3) located in burner housing (2), nozzle (4) having central hole (4a) and arranged so that it closes electrode (3) so that it is separated by channel (6a) for plasma-forming gas formed between said nozzle and electrode. Protective cap (7) of nozzle, having outlet hole (7a), located on front end of said protective cap opposite nozzle hole (4a), and annular channel (9) for secondary gas, located inside protective cap (7) of the nozzle and connected to outlet (7a), wherein protective cap (7) of the nozzle is electrically isolated from electrode (3) and nozzle (4), and swirler (8) of secondary gas, having at least one passage (8a). Protective cap (7) of nozzle is attached to arc plasma burner (1) with possibility of disconnection. It is possible to use a plasma torch for cutting workpieces, wherein at least protective cap (7) of the nozzle and the corresponding workpiece are located under water.
EFFECT: technical result is increase of useful service life of protective cap of arc plasma burner nozzle while maintaining high quality of cutting, including underwater plasma cutting, reduced risk of mechanical damage of nozzle protective cap and exclusion of its overheating.
