FIELD: medicine.
SUBSTANCE: invention relates to medical equipment. Method of blood glucose meter operation includes input into microprocessor through user interface of at least one of user specified low glucose value and user-specified high glucose level for determining glucose values for minimum or maximum glucose values. If the introduced user-defined high glucose level is less than the pre-set minimum glucose value, pre-set minimum glucose level is changed by a microprocessor to a new low glucose level for a minimum glucose level of the total range that is below a user-specified high glucose level or equals a minimum allowable low glucose level, wherein the new low glucose level is stored in the non-volatile memory of the blood glucose meter. If the introduced user-specified low glucose value is greater than the pre-set maximum glucose value, the pre-set maximum glucose level is changed by the microprocessor to a new high value for a maximum glucose value of the total range which is greater than the low value specified by the user or is equal to the maximum allowable high value, wherein the new high glucose level is stored in the non-volatile memory of the glucometer. Visual indication is made whether the user's glucose readings are within or outside said common range.
EFFECT: more accurate indication of the position of the measured level or blood glucose readings relative to the desired range settings with reference to a discrete code scale.
